Many people have reported pianos playing in the practice rooms of the conservatory, but when they reach the room, the playing stops. Upon opening the door, they find that no one is inside. Footsteps have also been heard in the hallways, but when one turns to see who is behind them, no one is there. There is also a heavy door in the basement that has shut behind visitors to the conservatory, but upon trying to reenact the event, it seems that the door is not subject to wind and is too heavy to close on its own. One former student I spoke with reported what she believed to be exorcism stickers on some of the door frames throughout the Conservatory of Music. Upon further inspection, I found a strange sticker on a first-floor bathroom during my visit to the conservatory. Though I am not sure of the purpose of the sticker, it is worth noting, considering the history of the former location as a cemetery and the reports that have circulated about the ghostly happenings in the Conservatory of Music.

Anne Therese Guerin Hall was named in honor of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin. The building is not far from the Conservatory of Music. The four-story Renaissance Revival building was originally used as a dormitory with both shared and private rooms but now serves as administrative offices and classrooms for the college. Students and staff have long reported the existence of an entity that behaves much like a poltergeist in the hall. This spirit is often referred to as “three back” or the Dark Angel of Guerin Hall. There is a story of a student who attended the college in the 1930s who would later tell her daughter the tale of a female student who hanged herself in room 334. Oddly, the activity in Guerin Hall seems to center on room 334, which is a corner room on the third floor of the building. Former residents have reported objects moving on their own, strange sounds that can’t be explained and even passing shadows when no one else is nearby. The most bizarre report from Guerin Hall is that of a wall-mounted crucifix that was said to have moved from side to side without any outside intervention.
